Using a new FrontPage Web Template in Version 2002:

  1. If you do not see a taskbar on the right of your screen in FrontPage, go to File/New/Web.
  2. On the taskbar to the right, choose "Web Site Templates" under "New From Template." FrontPage will also list some of your recently used Web Templates if you want to choose one of those instead.
  3. Choose the Web Template you wish to use from your list of Web Templates.
  4. Specify the location where you want to publish your new web. This may be a local folder on your hard drive or you may publish directly to your server.
  5. Click "OK" to create your new web, and sit back and wait while FrontPage builds a new web from the Web Template.

Applying FrontPage Themes in Version 2002:

  1. On the Format menu, choose Theme. This displays the Themes dialog box.
  2. Choose All Pages and then click an item in the list of themes to preview a theme.
  3. For this sample Web site, select the theme called Straight Edge.
  4. Click OK. Because you selected All Pages above, FrontPage 2002 will warn you that you are about to apply the theme to all the pages on your site.
  5. Click OK. FrontPage applies the theme to all pages in your Web site.

Customizing the Colors in a Theme:

  1. On the Format menu, choose Theme. The Themes dialog box appears.
  2. Click Modify. Three new buttons appear: Colors, Graphics, and Text.
  3. Click Colors. The Modify Theme dialog box appears; the Color Schemes tab is active and displays a list of color schemes.
  4. Experiment with various color schemes by clicking the scheme name. When you find one you like, click OK.
  5. Before applying the modified theme, you must save it. Click Save and type a name. In this example, type Straight Edge-Modified.
  6. Click OK.

Customizing Graphics in a Theme

  1. On the Format menu, choose Theme.
  2. Click Modify and then click Graphics. The Modify Theme dialog box appears.
  3. Select an item from the drop-down list at the top of the dialog box. In this example, select Horizontal Rule.
  4. Browse for an image you would like to use instead of the default image in the theme. Try experimenting by selecting different options in the Item drop-down list and see which aspects of your theme you can modify.
  5. Click OK to save the theme with the images you selected.

Customizing Text Styles in a Theme

  1. On the Format menu, select Theme.
  2. Click Modify, and then click Text. The Modify Theme dialog box appears.
  3. Select an item from the drop-down list at the top of the dialog box. In this example, select Heading 1.
  4. In the Font list, choose a font style. Youll see a preview in the pane to the right.
  5. When you have found a font you like, click OK to apply the font style to your theme. You can experiment with choosing different aspects of your site from the Item drop-down list and applying different fonts.
  6. Click OK to save font choices and apply them to your theme.
